I’ve just spent the last two days creating over 100 different t-shirt designs using Ideogram. I did this to test out the new version, 2A. 2A is better optimized for graphic design and photography, and it’s their cheapest model. Everything I generated here was created using Turbo, which only uses half a credit per generation.
After creating over 100, I do believe that 2A is definitely much better than the normal version 2 for t-shirt design. Some designs I didn’t quite like, and some I really liked, but the overall quality stood out.
I’m in the process of turning all these into a little freebie. This should be ready over the next couple of days – 100 Ideogram quote graphic t-shirt prompts. Most of the prompts that created all of these are going into it and it’s going to be 100% free as well. Niches include funny and sarcastic, inspiration and motivational, G power, and many more.
Ideogram 2A T-Shirt Design: What Stood Out
Text and layout quality
2A is a million times better at doing text, especially when there’s a lot more going on within a design. The typography and composition hold up really well and look like they were created by a professional designer. Ideally that’s what we’re looking for. We don’t want our designs to look like they were created by AI.
Cartoon and animal strength
Ideogram 2A does a fantastic job at anything related to cartoons, especially cartoon animals. A lot of the animal and pet designs turned out flawless.

Standout examples and favorites
I have a lot of favorites, but one stood out above all the others: My dog thinks I’m cool – that’s all that matters. The husky with the pink glasses, the paw up, the paw down, the paws around it, the stars – absolutely flawless. You’d have no idea this was created with AI.

I can’t wait for version 3, which is hopefully just around the corner.
Ideogram 2A T-Shirt Design: My Prompt-to-Design Workflow
This is how I created 100+ designs with the help of one of my new GPTs. This one is in my IDE Mastery course and is specifically designed to create quote t-shirt prompts.
Step 1 – Brainstorm niches

Step 2 – Generate quotes and puns

The great thing about this GPT is that we can brainstorm niches, brainstorm puns and quotes, and go back and forth making them more unique. Most of these ended up pretty unique.
Step 3 – Develop a design concept

Step 4 – Get a fully formatted Ideogram prompt

Ideogram 2A T-Shirt Design: Generating in Ideogram

I tested this with the quote I don’t chase people – I chase sunsets. I really like this one. The variations looked pretty good too. Even with 2A everything is improved, but you still sometimes get errors. I think I’d like one of these over the rest, but the set as a whole turned out solid.

Final Thoughts
2A is delivering significantly better t-shirt designs than the normal version 2, especially on typography and cartoon-style illustrations. Turbo cuts the cost per generation in half and still produces high-quality results. With a niche-to-quote-to-concept workflow and a properly formatted prompt, Ideogram 2A turns out designs that look like they were created by a professional designer. I’m excited to share the free prompt pack and to roll out the new prompt generator soon.
